Dialectical Behavior Therapy Skills Group

Our DBT Skills Group provides a safe space to learn and practice achievable, evidence-based skills to help with anxiety, depression, PTSD, self-harming behaviors, substance abuse, and symptoms that pull you away from living your life.

This group is ideal for folks who:

  • Have trouble managing overwhelming emotions
  • Struggle with impulsive behaviors/actions
  • Experience chaotic relationships
  • Want to build healthy connections and boundaries

This group cycles through the four modules of DBT.  Each group begins with two weeks of Orientation/Core Mindfulness, and then four weeks on a skill module. Participation in two weeks of Orientation/Core Mindfulness is required for first-time group members before the four skill weeks. For returning clients, we highly recommend attending the Core Mindfulness sessions between groups, but can be flexible. Participation in one skill set is not required for the next; you can start with any set of Orientation/Core Mindfulness sessions.

This group will teach practical skills to assist in managing emotions, decreasing impulsive behaviors, and strengthening interpersonal skills. You’ll receive support from the facilitator and fellow group members as you learn these skills and begin implementing them in your life. You will be able to address challenges you find in practicing these new tools, and ultimately develop more secure and stable relationships with yourself and others.

DBT Skills is a closed group, meaning that, once you confirm your registration with us for each session, you’ll be signed up for all six weeks. We understand that life happens, so if something unavoidable comes up or if you get sick and need to miss a week, that’s okay, but you’re still responsible for $10 for missing the week.

For returning DBT group members, the Orientation/Core Mindfulness weeks are open, meaning you can attend one or two sessions, but you’d still be responsible for $10 if you cancel with less than 24 hours notice. Signup for the four-week module is closed, meaning it’s at least a 4-week commitment for returning clients.

We’d love to use our online scheduler for groups, but since our scheduling system works a little differently, we schedule you for groups manually. Just fill out this form and we’ll take care of you.

For this group, we can accept Aetna, BCBS PPO, Humana, and United insurance. Otherwise, the self-pay rate is $20 per session.
