Serena Singleton's Bio

breaking free Nicole Nelson-Sease

Clients who struggle with anxiety, guilt, one-sided or tumultuous relationships, and expressing their needs find Serena a fierce ally. She blends a collaborative, empathetic approach with dry humor (think Jane from Daria).

“I’m not here to tell people what to do or purport that I know what’s best,” Serena says. “When you struggle, something is getting in the way of your relationships or goals; it’s my job to build trust, help you gain insight, and engage in what matters to you.”

Serena has almost a decade of experience in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), a method that helps her clients manage overwhelming emotions, improve their relationships, and stop self-sabotage. She respects her clients’ unique points of view and supports their goals.

In her free time, she often creates abstract and mixed-media art with her toddler. She loves mid-century kitch, B-movies, sci-fi, horror, and visiting the local drive-in for throwback movies. As a paranormal buff, she has enjoyed several haunted Chicago tours.  Serena is a lifelong vegan and animal lover with three dogs and two cats. She is married to a rock musician who has somehow imparted significant knowledge of the DC Universe and pro wrestling upon her. Her future goals include getting finishing touches on her Twilight Zone half-sleeve.
